Course Description:


This course will cover operational deployment of Tactical Armored Vehicles for the SWAT officer.  The class will be a mix of classroom, force on force field exercises, and live fire training.   This class will cover several topics including.

Armored vehicle overview
Armored vehicle rescues
Vehicle barricades
Armor vehicle  tactics and techniques for use on a barricaded suspects

Armored Vehicle Operations

Equipment List:


All individual gear and weapons


* 250 rounds for pistol and rifle
* simunition gear with 100 rounds sim ammo
* safety equipment for firearms and force on force with sims - eye pro, ear pro, face protection, etc

Instructor Bio: Dave May

Dave May has been a Police Officer since 2005 and is currently assigned as a Team Leader for the Tacoma Police SWAT Team. Dave has planned and executed numerous SWAT operations and coordinated thousands of training hours for SWAT and other departmental interests. In addition, Dave was assigned to TPD’s narcotics unit for six years and has extensive practical experience in surveillance operations. Prior to law enforcement, Dave spent five years in the executive protection field where he, in addition to close protection, has experience in both surveillance and counter-surveillance operations.   Dave holds multiple instructor certifications applicable to tactical law-enforcement response and is a member of the WSTOA Instructor Cadre; having trained hundreds of officers during SWAT Basic and SWAT Advanced courses.
